Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I just want to say that my experience at Wellington Eye Care was terrific. The staff is wonderful I was greeted with a smile from Monique and Bailey. They made feel right at home. Those two are so sweet and very likable. Austin who took me back was great too he was up beat and has a nice smile and made me like I was important. Dr. Eklund cares about his patients he explains everything to you and is very welcoming, listens and is easy to talk to. Thank you for the best experience. Kelly is very sweet and is there if you have questions. When it was time to get glasses Julia helped me pick out the perfect pair. She is amazing and easy to talk to she made me feel right at home. I just love this staff and would recommend them to everyone. If you want that feeling of being part of a family this is the place for you. Thank You to All of the Staff for a great experience Pam Reagan

Dr. Eklund is the best eye doctor I've ever been to. He's extremely knowledgeable about eye issues and how the health of the eyes is affected by systemic disease throughout the body. The entire office is run professionally with kindness and courtesy. I'm confident that my vision could not be in better hands.

Warning...Get a second opinion before you get diagnosed (and charged) for having dry eyes at Wellington Eye Care! Does everyone who walks through that door get that diagnosis?? I did and I do not have dry eyes. Also, do not believe them when they tell you they take your insurance. Check with your insurance first! They initially told me that they took my insurance, then while I was already back in the exam room, the doc said oh looks like we don't take your insurance. I just paid over $700 for what was supposed to be a simple contact lens prescription appointment. Took over 6 weeks to get my trial pair, which the prescription ended up being majorly inaccurate, and took another 6 weeks to get another trial. They told me that the contact lens followup fitting appointment would be covered with my original over $600 charge, but they ended up charging me another close to $100 because the doctor brought up the whole dry eye thing. I did not even want to discuss it, but got charged anyway. I even asked the receptionist following the appointment to be sure I wasn't charge, then ended up with a bill in the mail! I will not be returning or recommending them to anyone. Be warned!
