Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I use to visit this place regularly every year for yearly eye exam. The last time I visited this place I was seen by some Asian doctor (definitely not trying to be racist here but just cannot remember his name). During my eye exam whenever I would say hey can you put back the old lens as I am not sure he would rudely reply it either works for your eye OR it just doesn’t. Seemed like poor guy hated his job or was underpaid. I have never seen doctors behave like this (coming from a woman whose dad and husband are practicing doctors). Hire decent people otherwise you will keep losing business. Not to mention extremely rude and unprofessional staff. Someone in their sane mind would never give you their business. I already found a much better facility with great doctors. Your Never returning customer. Thanks

This Visionworks is armpit of the city. Consistently rude staff and suboptimal treatment. I feel like I’m walking into a mortuary when I enter this room. 5 minute grace period for appointments is ruthless and not communicated to patients ahead of time. The manager at my visit was extremely rude! Staff is probably underpaid and mistreated by this lousy business. I go here because of insurance purposes. In fact, I’ve been going here for multiple years. The staff used to be friendly enough, but has significantly declined in quality. Honestly, the out-of-pocket expense at a clinic with well-treated staff is worth your energy. Avoid this awful place at all costs.

When I arrived at 5:25pm on Thursday, 11/17, for my appointment, the woman, later discover the store manager, communicates with me from the back of the store while I'm at the front desk. She states that I've missed the 5 minute grace period for my 5:15pm appointment and will have to reschedule. I'm shocked as this is the first I'm hearing about a grace period. As she slowly walks to the front, she over talks me by repeating her grace period comment. I finally get my answer that the eye doctor is still there AND WITH THE PREVIOUS PATIENT. I attempt to explain that had I arrived at 5:15pm, I'd STILL be waiting to be seen because the doctor is STILL with a patient. The grace period is irrelevant. The store manager, Amber, rudely restates the grace period mantra. Mind you that I've been a patient here for at least 3 previous exams and this grace period policy was never mentioned. The doctor and patient emerge from the back. They confirm their appointment is still in progress. All told, I stayed until 5:51pm, under threat of police removal by Amber, when the appointment before mine finally ended. The eye doctor refused to see me or even tell me his name. He actually walked away from me as I spoke to him. Neither he nor Amber knew their district manager's name. When I mentioned placing a negative review, Amber snidely encouraged it. Here you have it, Amber. I have voice recordings of the interaction and have received communication from Visionworks corporate office regarding the incident. I will NEVER set foot in another Visionworks.
