Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?
Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.
What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?
What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.
What does an optometrist do?
Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.
Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

The doctor was pleasant and walked me through every step of the exam. He found such a great prescription so fast! The front desk ladies were lovely, the manager of the glasses area was super helpful too.

First time coming here, didn't realize what a gem this place is. The receptionist was so sweet, and i had Kyle Abraham/ optician help me find frames that i absolutely loved and that fit my face. I have new vision insurance he explained everything to me in great detail and helped me get the most out of my insurance plan and allowence. He is just amazing! Im definitely getting him to help with next years glasses :) i didn't realize this place does eye exams too, next year ill get exam done here as well. A one stop shop! Excellent customer service. They helped me pick out glasses to try on based on my (picky) standards and were patient as I tried them all on. I appreciate that they gave me space to try on the glasses without hovering over my shoulder. Ordering the glasses was also a great experience. Barbara was extremely helpful and explained everything I needed to know. She was also kind enough to tighten my current glasses so they would stop falling off my face when I bend down. Fantastic experience all around!

Husband went here for his yearly exam and some new glasses. Dr was great but the guy at reception was very rude and had zero customer service skills. Went back to pick up his glasses and same thing. Same guy. Rude and unprofessional. He wants me to find a new place.

4 words.. Go to Sam's Club. I came to pick up my warranty replacement lenses, and the person working was very rude, no one else was in the area, the sign said no more than three to four people in the optical center at a time, due to COVID SAFETY. Of course they hide behind that nice little elastic rope thing like everything is top secret in their store, yet you can walk freely in Walmart. I asked if I could look at frames while she put my lenses in, and she said I'm the only one here and unless you're going to buy something I can't let you in. REALLY? Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't. They'll never know because I will never buy lenses from them again. I SPENT SEVERAL HUNDRED $$ ON MY FRAME AND LENSES, AND I CAN'T LOOK AT ADDITIONAL FRAMES UNLESS I BUY??? That's absolutely ridiculous, and the associate was rude. NOW, I NEED TO GO BACK IN BECAUSE THE LENSES ARE TOO SMALL FOR MY FRAME. I went to Sam's Club the other day and went to their optical center and spoke to the manager who just happened to be there and asked if they could reglue my lenses in, assuming that's how they put lenses in.. She stated that these lenses are too small for these frames and asked me where I got them, and they have no association with their optical center and Walmart optical center. So now I have the fun task of trying to get new lenses made for my glasses. for some reason I have a feeling STAFF is going to be really difficult. Asking for a manager really seems just as concerning. BOTTOM LINE: MY LENSES DID NOT SHRINK. However when I clean them they're shifting around a little bit so they need to be replaced....wish me luck.. I will give an update after I've spoken with somebody in their department. UGH.
