Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Dr. Ofchinick has a great variety of sunglasses and he was so patient with my indecisive nature of wanting to find the perfect pair. I am extremely happy with the ones I ended up with. I highly recommend checking out the large display of sunglasses at Sky High Vision.

On Dec. 10th, 2021, I woke up and felt different. Immediately upon getting out of bed, I knew something was not right. I had a feeling of dizziness, or what I thought at the time was vertigo. I went a week, working, mom-ing two kids, and trying to solve my “vertigo”. I finally got an appointment to see my Primary Care Physician about a week later, I brought my husband because I knew something was not right and I needed him there for support, to help explain what was going on. My PCP told me that I was an over-worked, over stressed mother that needed more help from my husband. That I needed a break from screentime (I work on the computer), and that I needed to drink more water. She told my husband that he was most likely part of the problem by putting too much of the burden on me between grocery shopping, kid responsibilities, etc. I left feeling that my physical feelings had been diminished and my husband left feeling like he’d been shamed. It was really one of the worst days we’ve had collectively. Almost another week passed, the screen time break and more water surprisingly did not help my symptoms and in fact they were progressing. By this time, it was clearer to me that my vision was part of the problem. In a moment of clarity on a Friday afternoon I called Dr. Partlow’s office and explained my situation. They made space for me Saturday morning. This is all happening days before Christmas, a hectic time for everyone. During my appointment Dr. Partnow was were able to tell me that my vision was in fact fine, a relief in some regard, but that my eyes weren’t working together! He was able to tell me that after two weeks of not understanding what was going on, that my problem was most likely neurological, and I needed to see a neurologist asap. In fact, he referred me to two, and by Tuesday of the next week I was able to be seen by a Neuro Ophthalmologist, who ordered and MRI and was able to get me into a Neurologist. By Christmas Eve I had an official Diagnosis, Multiple Sclerosis. And while this diagnosis may be one of the world’s most terrible Christmas gifts, understanding what was going on was in some way was in fact a gift. In the almost year since I have always felt like he was the link that saved me last year, not from life or death, but from losing my mind, knowing that something was not right, but being told I was simply worn out and needed a rest. Your help gave me the tiniest relief on Christmas day that at least I knew what the battle was that I would fight instead of being clueless to the opponent. I am so incredibly grateful for Dr. Partnow, and will forever be a loyal patient, as will my whole family. I am grateful for his ability to make room for me, hear me, to be honest and upfront with what he saw, and for his help getting me pointed in the right direction.

I was looking for a place close to me that sold Chemistrie glasses and sunglass clips. The place I bought my glasses from went out of business due to COVID. I found Five Parks Vision as an authorized rep and it was in the neighborhood just west from my home. I worked with Bre who was more than helpful and super friendly! She not only helped me get my sunglass clip replaced but also gave me coupons for contact solution. She also helped me with solutions for what I could do in the interim when I wouldn't have my glasses while they were being fitted with the new clip. I felt she really went above and beyond to help me in my situation and I really appreciated it.
