Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I've been trying to get a hold of someone in the office and their phone only rings three times then dead silence...no voicemail or anything I keep calling and it's doing the same thing... I can't even email them I can't find an email address on there website... I can say though when I did have my appointment the lady at the front desk was very nice and the Dr. I saw was very nice too

The "optometrist" spent more time scolding me and questioning why I took so long to get glasses rather than just focus on the reason I was there - TO GET GLASSES. the receptionist rushed me to pick out my frames and just overall made me very uncomfortable. I ended up walking out with some frames that fall off my head when I look down - I blame myself for letting them handle the situation the way they did. STAY AWAY, there are plenty of other optometrists in the area that I'm sure would give you the time and attention you need.

This is a ‘gem’ of a place tucked amongst the ciaos of busy Vallejo. Everything one would expect in this “mom & pop shop” but on a highly professional level! I went there for the first time a few months ago, and the father performed my eye exam. He was so considerate and let me know what he was doing every step of the way. He called me by my first name, and I felt so truly valued as their customer. I didn’t want to have my eyes dilated for a test, so he asked his kind son (the other optometrists) to perform a state of the art test for glaucoma with a new portable scientific instrument that didn’t take the dilation of my eyes. After words, the wife/mother helped me pick glasses. There was a lot to choose from. She took her time and brought out many, many, many choices. She was so patient and seemed to have a genuine desire for me to be happy with my new glasses. She actually helped me pick a pair-that I am very happy with and have had a lot of compliments on! The temple of these new glasses got bent. I called and the office, and the son got me in right away. He took my glasses and spent a lot time to bring them back to new! If you want professional service, to be valued and a great place you can trust, I highly recommend Samuel S Chia, OD!

This business is the absolute definition of Perfection! I had my prescription done about a year ago With Doctor Mendoza and I owe her alot for giving me and my dad a perfect fit! Honestly, I need more ophthalmologist like this in California! I would also like to thank Maggie for her calm, friendly, and understanding nature!

John Johns  |  Rating: 5  |  Ebright Optometry

Dr. Ebright is exceptionally caring, nice, and knowledgeable, and all the members of her staff were Grade A also! From my 1st call, I was impressed because not only did the receptionist have patience with me, but also was professional and called me back (which usually doesn't happen for me) for more information after some research, and then called me back again after finding the answer! Then another young lady ran preliminary eye tests on me and was friendly and professional and seemed to like her job. Then Dr. Ebright went over the tests with me and was so caring & informative that I could hardly think of anything to ask her at the end, which is the opposite of 99% of "doctors" I've seen who say as little as possible & try to get out the door before I can ask a question. Then I was helped by another nice young lady who was very professional & pleasant to me even though I tried on probably more than 20 pairs of glasses that I couldn't help her put back because there's no way I could remember where they came from. I am grateful that they were all so extraordinary because they distracted me from being sad that I need glasses now.
