Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?
Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.
What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?
What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.
What does an optometrist do?
Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.
Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

David N Kristie Ferguson | Rating: 1 | North Coast Optometry
Well I chose North Coast Optimetry because they were close and convenient. The office girl does not express customer service attributes but they were local and I was pressed for time, I travel. I came to them with my mothers frames (who had recently passed) and I wanted my prescription used for her frames. Dr. Rosa was pleasant with my examination and gets what customer service is. In fact, it was a great pitch and he sold me upgrades on the lenses. I paid cash and a lot of money. When they finally arrived they didnt call.. They emailed me when they came. Not personable, at all. I put them on and told her they they don't feel right they feel off and strained. The same office girl said just wear them and get used to them. So I did wear them everyday over a month. I called and left messages they give me headaches I cannot wear them. I received no response. I emailed them. Again they never responded. I arrived in town and came into their office Which has now been 5 months later. The same girl took my glasses to the back she then came back and said “well they aren't very strong so that's not the problem.” Wow classic. But she will have the doctor call me. Yes finally I received a call back. When he did and with a pleasant personality he absolutely made zero attempt to say let me look at them lets see what's going on -they aren’t covered anymore but let's see what we can do. Nope. Sorry there is nothing we can do. I said I have other glasses I wear all the time. There is something wrong with these, I have called and emailed and it's not until I show up in your office that I get a response. “Sorry, we can't help you.” WOW! Lesson learned.Customer service is truly a culture of a business OR IT IS NOT. I will listen to my intuition more. So after 1k dollars for two pair of glasses I just wanted moms frames... (btw the other pair was just changing mom’s prescription sunglasses to plain no prescription lenses).

Being seen by Dr. Sherman's office was a very pleasant experience. The were able to accommodate my busy schedule by seeing my son on a Saturday and were also able to make late appointments to fit our schedule needs. They do have a great selection of glasses for adults (I saw a few I liked) however, my 14 year old needed "fresher and cooler" frames. Even though we won't be getting my son's frames through Dr. Sherman's office we would still highly recommend them to our friends and family.

I am hard to fit for contact lenses, but Dr. Sherman did it! He was patient and took the time to find the right prescription for me. Dr. Sherman's staff was friendly and helpful. I will be coming back.
Vanna | Rating: 1 | Walmart Vision & Glasses
The lady named Renata told me when I asked If i could cancel the order for my contacts through Walmart, she said OK I’m going to put in your notes on your account that we’re not giving you trials. I did it out of a courtesy, and we’re not supposed to actually give trials that’s against our policy. I told her thats not on me, that’s in your ballpark, i didn’t ask for them. She kept repeating something that was irrelevant. I told her that wasn’t the issue it was with what she said to me. And how rude it was! Don’t go here terrible service you’ll be working with people that don’t know how to do their job, they take a nice thing and throw it in your face. Thanks a lot Renata .. So disappointing!
Melanie Ross | Rating: 5 | Stanton Optical
Was the best experience I ever had getting new glasses! Drove from afar and was totally worth it. The office is very clean and modern, everyone that works there is very helpful and are happy people that you can tell love their jobs, frame selection is wonderful and they work with any situation you give them! I’m so happy can’t wait to get my (had to order them) glasses! They even gave me glasses to get by with till mine come in. Couldn’t ask for a better place just wish it was in my town but worth every mile! Thank you Stanton optical! Love you guys
