Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I've been coming to the Eye Works for years. Each time I go the staff is friendly and helpful. This last visit had a new (to me) receptionist who guided me through the preliminary procedures and check up step - by - step, which was nice. I never had to wonder where to put my purse or what was next. She even asked if she could touch me before doing so. That's just considerate. I was surprised by a different doctor but I only go every 2 or 3 years with healthy eyes so that really doesn't matter. Everyone who worked with me was kind, considerate and really professional. I will continue to go back! (On a side note, my Mom's glasses broke once and I recommended she go to Eye Works to see if they could fix them. Not only did they repair her glasses free for her without her being a patient, but they brought them out to her in the car where she was waiting. Nice.)

REALLY sweet staff including the doctor. Everyone was very helpful and patient with me. Lots of great options of frames. I normally take a long time to find the perfect frame and they stayed with me to help and gave legitimate opinions. I wish I lived here to make them my permanent eye doctor. I wish I could recall the girl who helped me the whole time because she was amazing deserves the credit.

It is so refreshing to go into a business and actually feel that you matter as a customer. Dr. S is funny and engaging and remembers what or who you are two, or three, years apart. The exam is thoroughly enjoyable and done professionally. His team, well, they are all exceptional. The best part is when picking out new glass frames, the young lady that is not only beautiful, but really funny, actually gives you an honest opinion and will spend as much time as possible finding the perfect new frame accessory. She was my favorite part; keep in mind you can’t see yourself when trying on frames without your own glasses on (that’s why we are here to start with, can’t see). I don’t know how much time she roamed the store with me, but after selecting 6 frames for review, it was down to 2 frames, and decided to get both - it was great! Thank you Eye Works for everything.
