Contact lenses are small lenses that are in "contact" with your eyes. They are designed to correct refractive errors and keep your eyes healthy. The lenses are in the tear film on the cornea. Modern contact lenses are small lenses worn over the cornea of the eye. Modern contact lenses whether soft or hard. Most people wear soft contact lenses, but it wasn't that long ago that lenses were made of glass. Colored contact lenses can make your eyes more intense or completely change the color of your eyes, and costume contact lenses can help create special effects seen on the big screen.

What is the difference between glasses and contact lenses?

Unlike glasses, contact lenses do not limit the field of vision. With glasses, the field of vision is limited, causing people to have to turn their head to see something from the side.

Can I sleep in contact lenses?

Modern soft contact lenses allow enough oxygen to the eye, but when you sleep, your eyes are closed and, therefore, the access of oxygen to them is reduced.

What are the harms of contact lenses?

Prolonged contact lens wear causes the cornea to thin (keratocytes lose their ability to synthesize new tissue). This can happen even with proper lens wear 3-5 years after use. In the case of reaction to hypoxia (lack of oxygen), the main complication is the formation of new blood vessels.

Just moved here so I tried contacting this office to schedule appoints for my 3 daughters. 2 of whom already have glasses, but it was for their annual check up. First call back for scheduling I was told I needed an authorization prior. I explained I had talked to my insurance and they don’t need that. I tried to oblige and called my PCP, who they don’t give authorizations for optometry (annual appt). Called back to explain. When I received another call back I was told the same thing but she was going to schedule. I asked to get 3 back to back appts for my 3 girls and just rude as ever said no we don’t do that. Just rude for no reason. Don’t recommend.

The ladies at this LensCrafters we're awesome. I had cataract surgery on just one eye and the Dr office popped out my prescription lens and handed my glasses back as a solution until my second eye surgery. Cher at LensCrafters was kind enough to put in a non prescription plastic lens so I wouldn't look like a dork for the next two weeks while I wait for my next surgery. Thank you so much!

I found my new eyeball health home! I used to wear glasses many years ago. When it started getting more difficult to read things close up, I knew I would have to find an eye doctor. With so many choices, I thought the decision would be difficult. Then I found Dr. Larsson! Compassionate, understanding, informative, kind, fun...do you expect these things in your eye doctor? You should, and if you do, Dr. Kathryn Larsson and her competent, professional staff are your one-stop-shop for better vision. In my appointment today, I came away understanding more about my vision issues than I thought possible. She kindly explained every test she was doing, what they are designed to find out about my eyes, and she even decided to do some different tests based on our conversation. (She's responsive to what she learns about you, to ensure you get the best treatment!) With large pictures of her beautiful family on her wall, she is clearly a dedicated mother, wife, and friend, and I appreciate knowing those little details about my doctors. I imagine she would be fantastic with kids, as she's had several of her own! Finally, her staff was friendly, down-to-earth, and understanding. I was almost late for my appointment, and they were still just as friendly as I could have hoped for, and when it came time to select frames, they were understanding of what my insurance covered and made recommendations with an eye to what they would cost out of pocket. I was so satisfied with how I was treated here! Well, folks, I wear glasses again. But thanks to Visionary Optometry, the prospect isn't at all disheartening. I look forward to routine eye exams! Thank you, Kathryn!
