Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Definitely was NOT happy with this place. It’s like she kept forcing me to say what I could and couldn’t see through my eye exam. My contacts I can’t even see out of them so that was $250 in the trash!

Horrible service! I went in a few days ago to get a regular exam done because I was having trouble seeing. I went in and the exam was fine. Alma at the front front desk was helpful and even the doctor was nice at the time. I continued with my exam as normal. When I was finished I headed outside and she gave me contacts to try on. I had an extreme amount of difficulty getting one side in as it kept sticking to itself and folding in half. When I finally got them in, she had me go back to the chair to test my vision again with the contacts on. One of the eyes was fine, but the other was worse than when I didn’t have the contacts in. The contact ended up being old. It wasn’t a big deal. So I get the new ones on and she examined them in my eyes and sent me home with them. I was charged 160 dollars. As I wore them the next few days I noticed my preferial vision was distractingly blurry. I asked my mother and both sisters that are regular contact users and they told me that it definitely wasn’t normal. I assumed maybe these sample lenses have been sitting like the last ones, so I thought if I bought a box i’d have some fresh new ones. When I bought the new lenses, I continued having the same problem. I called the doctor today and she insisted that it was normal to see blurry. I even clarified the problem because I was in disbelief that she didn’t want to help me figure this out. I asked her if there was any way I can try a different sample brand but she told me that those samples were for fittings only and there was no way she could give me any. She also said that there was no warranty on the lenses. I told her that I understand and I didn’t want my money back for the box I bought, I just wanted to try another sample in case the brand was the problem so I could get the right lenses. She insisted no. I asked her what my options were thinking she would give me another exam in case she measured my eyes incorrectly. She said the only option I have is buying another brand when I need more. I could not believe what I was hearing. She even had the audacity to ask me if I knew how much the mark up on the lenses was as if I was trying to steal from her. I don’t care how much you make off contacts, all I know is that I spent 160 dollars on an exam that didn’t fix my eyesight. She gave me no alternative and basically took my money. I will never return to this place and will never recommend anyone to this doctor. Worst customer service experience I have ever had anywhere. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but this place. Would definitely give this zero stars if I could.

I been bringing my kids here but they hate it cuz my kids say she's mean and rude. she's too quick on things when she's giving the eye test she too inpatient when asked Wich one u can see from. my younger daughter she gave her glasses that are too blurry for her I think she just need to retire.I am going to take my kids somewhere else where there more perfetional and nice. Don't waist your time and money here not worth it even though she's close to your house. Two of my kids went for check up before Thanksgiving and they still haven't got there glasses not good.

Dr. Ow Young and her staff bent over backwards to accommodate my schedule. Her assistant was incredibly helpful and kind. Dr. O has an exceptional bedside manner and went above and beyond to meet my needs. They spent 2 and a half hours helping me get what I need/want and did so with professionalism and respect. I will continue to chose her office for my optometric needs and have already referred her to friends.
