Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Kim Rios  |  Rating: 5  |  Murrieta Optometry

I am beyond happy with my office visit. I was recommended this office though my Trade Club. My first interaction was over the phone with Holly. She was friendly, she listened to my needs and made me feel comfortable while scheduling my initial visit. When I arrived I called the office and Greg came out to greet me, he checked me in and was very friendly and I felt immediately comfortable. Then Trisha greeted me and began helping me select possible frames. I loved her energy! She took her time with me and made the entire experience fun! I needed her because I am challenged when it comes to selecting frames and she helped me pick out the perfect frame … yay! Kendra also assisted with my exam and she kept the positive vibe and flow going. She explained what she was doing with a smile the entire time. Doctor Scott Kamena was amazing! From the moment he introduced himself I felt at ease. I was in the right place and in good hands. He thoroughly explained what he was doing and not once did I feel hurried. He took his time which was much appreciated. I came home so excited about my experience. Later that evening Dr. Kamena left a message on my cell with his findings and his finding were all positive. I was impressed that he called the same day to go over them. I couldn’t wait to share it with my family. I highly recommend their team. Their team provided a consistent positive experience throughout my visit. I am looking forward to going back to pick up my glasses .

Gave them a try and was again disappointed. Between offering services not cover by insurance to schedulers at different times hanging up on you or saying they would call back but don't. What a puppy mill.

My wife and I have been coming to Livermore Optometry since moving to Livermore in 1996. It was then located at Holmes and Concannon. Having recently moved to San Jose from San Diego we were looking for a place to more permanently settle. Exploring Highway 84 brought us over the hills into the Livermore Valley. We knew right away this was where we wanted to live, and that was right where we found Livermore Optometry. Over the years the doctors and staff at Livermore Optometry have provided us with the best eye care we've ever experienced. We remember when they first opened their doors at their new offices on Fourth Street. We feel very lucky to have been with them all this time.

Monique Reynolds  |  Rating: 5  |  Costco Vision Center

Livermore Costco Vision center is awesome sauce! I have insurance but it takes too long to schedule an appointment with eye doctor for a simple exam so I called Costco and they were able to get me in for an eye exam the next day! Dr. Nguyen was great very friendly quick and get you out in 30mins no long waiting

Dr. Bloomingcamp and her Crew are amazing. I've been a patient for 11 years and I am always happy with my glasses. This week they repaired my Assisted Living Dad's glasses without being able to see him. Just fantastic!
