Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Our family have been coming here for over 10 years and was always highly satisfied until this last 2 years, the service is declining. I had my eye checked last June, when I got my glasses I couldn't read anything that is in reading level, so I have to remove my glasses when reading or using computer. The hassle of removing my glasses everytime I have to read or do something up close to me is annoying & what a waste of money. I did not have a problem before with my bifocals, so I have to come back in December for another eye exam, pay for new glasses again with the correct lenses. Upon receiving my glasses, it felt loose but the optician tech said it was fine. It still making a squeaky noise whenever I put my glasses on & off or when I am repositioning it. For the price I paid of more than $600 with insurance, was hoping for full satisfaction but unfortunately NOT. Then, Jan 2nd, I had my daughter's eyes checked, ordered her glasses & contact lenses, paid for all services same day. A week later, they called that they ordered the wrong contact lenses, the correct contact lenses cost more, was told to pay the difference once the right contact lenses arrived. Feb 6th, received a bill in the mail for unpaid contact lenses, called their office, no contact lenses were ever ordered under my daughter's name but I did get an unpaid contact lenses bill via mail. What is going on ? Fraudulent charges ?

The past few visits have had us questioning the overall customer service here. With broken frames and lousy, high-cost options for replacements we're taking our business elsewhere. This review is not meant for the high-quality optometrists at LRO, but rather the lack of quality customer service processes.

Excellent service with extremely friendly staff. I don’t have vision insurance but they are always willing to offer discounts for my frames - which no matter what still seem hideously over-priced! But not going frame shopping right now. Dr Stacy Jones is super friendly and explains everything clearly - and yep I always see clearer afterwards!

This was a great experience from the moment I walked in the door. I appreciated Dr.Lavender’s thoroughness. She knows what she id doing. And Valerie, is just lovely. She is the “face of the practice” creating a SUPERB “first impression”. What an asset she is to LRO.
