Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Lauren Outlaw  |  Rating: 5  |  Diana Ciobanu, O.D. and Associates

Dr Do was knowledgeable and helpful in educating me about the health of my eyes AND she was kind and patient to make it work even with my toddler and infant in tow. Daniel and Ezra clearly explained all the options and benefits available to me via insurance. They truly worked as a team and the result was the best experience I could've hoped for (special thanks to Ezra for bringing little books to distract the girls!). Such professionalism, but also genuine kindness, I was beyond impressed.

Sally W  |  Rating: 5  |  Barranca Optometry

Went for an annual check up for my teenage son. Their service was prompt and courteous. Doctor and staff were knowledgeable to explain the results in details and made recommendations for future potential treatment. The office was very relaxing, and equipment was fairly up-to-date. Will definitely come back again.

Troy Bishop  |  Rating: 1  |  Spectrum Optometry

It’s really a shame. The doctor and nurses were great. But Horrific service from the front desk guy. We were told because we were not Asian we would be charged more, we’re accused of “not giving him Asian love”, the front desk guy tried to literally scan us, refused my to talk to the doctor for a second appointment to cheange prescription, he told me “ he has special skills where he can look at my face and know that I’m losing about my prescription” ……. This was straight out of a horror movie. I had to open a case against them through medical and Wells Fargo to get some of my money back, I still never got my prescription and won’t be able to for another 2 years on medical. The one thing and Optometry plays should be doing is Helping me see and this Optometry place it’s literally preventing me from doing so for the next two years. Such a head ache. Please do not go here!

Kamyar Nikkhah  |  Rating: 5  |  Mohsen S. Alinaghian, Optometrist

I've been going to Dr. Alinaghian's office since 1994 (almost 3 decades). My dad, mom, grandma, wife and now my son all getting treated by Dr. Alinaghian. We paid a visit in late summer during the pandemic and they informed us ahead of time about arriving early and following certain protocols for our safety and their safety as well and as usual we were welcomed and got our eye examination. Few years ago my son got hit in the eye at school and I called Dr. Alinaghian while I was driving to school he told me to bring him in immediately and it was late evening and when we got there at 6:00 pm he was waiting for us and treated my son immediately. I wish every doctor was like him and treated every patient just like he would treat his own family.

S Kulkarni  |  Rating: 5  |  Ruth Tang, OD

Dr. Tang is detail-oriented, and takes time to do a thorough eye checkup. Her nurse or the lady who did initial eye checkup, was also very nice and thorough. I felt good to have chosen Dr. Tang as my ophthalmologist; her methods appeared to prioritize accuracy rather than speed and that is what a patient needs. I would recommend people to visit her for eye checkup. (For frames, the lady taking orders was rushing things. Perhaps it was lunch time for her so I can understand, perhaps too many frame orders came around that time, or perhaps it was relativity. That section could improve.)
