Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?
Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.
What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?
What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.
What does an optometrist do?
Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

It’s a sad sad day when you voluntarily go to the Optometrists because text becomes a little blurry from far away, especially after having 20/20 vision your entire lifetime. I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment for both me and my husband to see Dr. Vu in March. This was only my second trip to the Optometrists, first was approximately 25 yrs ago when my eyes were hurting, apparently from burnt retinas. PSA: wear sunglasses outdoors, even when it doesn’t seem sunny! Back to this review. Dr. Vu greeted me in the exam room, asked me a series of questions and then proceeded to provide me with a high level overview of what she’d be doing during the exam. Her tone was very calming, which helped ease my anxiety of being at the eye doctor. Before she started each phase of her exam, she provided me with a step-by-step overview of what she’d be doing next. Which was good, since I didn’t remember what she had originally said or perhaps I blocked it out :-) I did fine during most of the test, except for when they had to put that thing really close to your eye. I kept flinching and pulling my head back, natural instincts kept kicking in, even when she wasn’t doing anything! Dr. Vu was extremely patient with me during this time and didn’t make me feel like a child, even though I was acting like one! All in all, I recommend Dr. Vu. Thanks to her I’m no longer intimidated by Optometrists and most importantly I can now read the subtitles while watching my Netflix shows/movies!

Just had my first visit with Dr. Wong this weekend, and had a great time. As he talked me through every process, I realized he was treating me exactly as he would a member of his own family. He was also very clear about the explanations for alternative options in treatment, such as comfort vs cosmetic vs financially reasonable. He also followed up on my questions regarding my insurance coverage. Excellent care, would recommend!

Dr. Vu is very nice. I would recommend him to anyone. However, the lab that he uses took much longer than normal to get my glasses. It took a little more than 3 weeks. 4 starts only because of the lab.

Horrible experience with appointments. Kept changing my times. My macro degeneration dr. Sent her a letter. I needed glasses because my left eye was seeing double. No compassion. I am a registered nurse & do not recommend her!

Right from the start, I felt absolutely cared for by Dr. Wong. He is very thorough, professional, knowledgeable, kind, and so very patient. He took the time with me and answered all my questions. The office was very clean, filled with high tech equipment, stocked with snacks and la croix drinks, and full of trendy glasses! I only came for contacts, but he was very helpful giving feedback on choosing frames and I figured it was time to buy a new one anyway. I was pleasantly surprised he even measured my face for preciseness - very attentive to detail! Walked out feeling really good about my eye care. Thanks Dr. Wong!
