Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

After going to the optometrist and realizing that for a pair of not so cute glasses with transition lenses I would have to spend approx. $400+, I decided to take my prescription to Warby Parker. I'm so glad I did. Not only was the customer service amazing, but they took the stress out of finding the right frame. I was in and out of there in about thirty minutes when it usually takes me about two hours to make a decision. I was able to get a super cute frame (Ainsley) and transition lenses with anti-scratch, anti-glare, and blue light protection for $195 all in ($95 frames, $100 transitions, all other stuff no charge). I will be taking my daughter there tomorrow for a new pair! Also, I received them pretty fast. I chose my frame at about 6 p.m. on a Friday and they were delivered on Friday of the next week. I do wish you could call the store directly. I'd like my daughter to be helped by the same person that helped me, but there's no way to confirm he'll be there as I cannot call the store. I would normally remove a star, but the service was so good as was my experience. I just can't fault a location for a companywide policy.

Words can't express how grateful I am to Dr. Rogers. A few years back my husband was complaining of not feeling well. We went to Urgent Care and they said he had a stomach flu. He had mentioned that he was having some double vision and blurred vision. I called Dr. Rogers and she told me to have him come see her immediately. She did some testing and had us go immediately to the ER with a prescription in hand for further testing, as she had noted pressure on his optic nerve. Turned out he had a blood clot. God only knows what would have happened if she hadn't come through for us. She is the absolute best and truly cares about all her patients.

If you are looking for an eye Dr who is kind, compassionate oh! and fantastic at her job, then Dr Bell is the one for you. I have been happily putting my eye care in her hands for over 10yrs now. Last year she diagnosed a detached retina and within an hour she had organized for me to go see someone and get it treated immediately (not sure what superpowers she used to get him to stay at 5pm on a Friday night!), she then followed up frequently to check that all was well. Her staff are great, love the way they treat you as an old friend. This practice embodies the El Segundo family friendly feel. would HIGHLY recommend it.

I had an emergency with my right eye during a short trip in California. I was lucky that I found Dr. Rogers office very quick. It locates approximately 15mins away from LAX airport by car. When I told the receptionist about how bad situation about my eye, they immediately accommodated me to see Dr. Rogers. Dr. Rogers was very nice and professional. She carefully examed my eye history and current symptoms and immediately transferred me for a small surgery and about within 20 mins, a tiny piece of metal was removed from my eye. All the staff that handled the entire procedure was very professional and caring. After the treatment, my eye still appeared red and painful and I was concerned about it. I called Dr. Rogers and she answered all my questions with patience. I then understood because of the metal and the surgery, the redness would still remain around 24-48 hours, which is totally normal. She also sent me a picture of what kind of eye drop I can buy from CVS to help with the situation. Dr. Rodgers called me again to follow up my situation the next day morning. My eye was close to normal by then. I am very appreciative of how kind, caring yet professional of Dr. Rodgers and her team are!

I bought a pair of frames with Blue Light filter frames. The frames were a bit tight but it was fine. I thought I lost them and tried calling the store but couldn’t reach the store but texted their corporate office. They took a while to get back to me and it’s very frustrating you can’t reach anyone at the store directly. I had to go back personally. The person that helped me was great but not being able to personally talk to anyone at the store was discouraging. Don’t know if I would go back again even though they have a big selection of frames.
