Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Hilary Taylor  |  Rating: 5  |  Carlsbad Optometry

All the doctors and staff are experienced, knowledgeable, professional, and wise. They explain everything to me in terms I can understand, they give me lots of options for contacts and glasses, they have state-of-the-art tools, they help with insurance "stuff", they always see me promptly and give me their full attention, and their space is gorgeous. My daughter had her first exam at age 6 (as a benchmark), and she felt like a queen! I cannot recommend this business enough.

I have been trying to call there for 3 days now! No one answers the phone, talk about terrible customer service? I would rather take my service somewhere else then waste my time ANY longer with this company. REALLY sad as my mother AND grandmother used to go there...I can't even give it one star as it doesn't deserve that (Had to do a star to post) it doesn't deserve the star!

Jeffery Miller  |  Rating: 5  |  Total Vision Carlsbad Plaza Dr. Stemley

My wife & I relocated to Nebraska but continue purchasing all eye glasses from Dr Stemley’s wonderful team! The retail eye care specialists possess wonderful taste for trending styles and deliver the personal details that will transcend your experience to the next level! I recently purchased my first-ever pair of cycling sunglasses with Associate Elaine’s guidance and experience w/lens color, tinting, and transition; congruent with on-the-bike position. The glasses performed impeccably throughout the Midwest summer bike-race season! If you’re in need of active-sport Rx sunglasses; or simply don’t mind literally being chased-down in airports to be asked where you purchased your frames, look no further than Dr Stemley’s stellar team!

William K Jackson  |  Rating: 5  |  Carlsbad Optometry

Tom was fast and courteous with his servicing of my furnace. He even went over and above by hauling my newly emptied trash can back for me on one of his trips to the van. I really appreciate it!

Risa Kneip  |  Rating: 1  |  Andrews Optical

I when in to Andrew’s Optical to get my glasses adjusted so that they fit better on my face. The lady that attempted to help me said she couldn’t adjust my glasses without breaking them or ruining the lenses. I asked her if she had ever adjusted glasses. She just stared at me. My glass are 6 months old and I have had them adjusted 2 times. The person that adjusted my glasses those times never told me that they couldn’t because they would either ruin the lenses or break them and they were adjusted perfectly. I’m not sure why an optical shop would have someone work for them if they don’t know how to adjust glasses without breaking them. Maybe it’s had finding qualified people.
