Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Everyone was lovely and I had a wonderful experience and visit during our unfortunate COVID. They made me feel safe as they took necessary precautions, while also keeping a friendly and warm demeanor. I highly recommend making an appointment with Dr. Popilsky and his team!

Very knowledgeable friendly and fair. Wish I had found them years ago. I learned more about optics in 20 minutes with Judy than I had gleaned from any other optician experience. She recommended a type of computer glasses that she implied would change my life. I got them and if anything, she understated the improvement. I feel like I have come out of a cave and into the sunlight. Thanks Judy and Kip!

I've been going to Eye Shapes since I was VERY young. Kip and Judy never hesitate to get the job done. Their decades worth of experience make the job of choosing glasses a smooth and and enjoyable experience. They also have a very beautiful selection of designer glasses and sunglasses such as Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, RayBans and etc. If you're looking for high quality frames to put your prescription lenses in whether it be for sunglasses or regular frames you've found the right place!

Okay I didn't actually go here because of the experience I had with trying to schedule an appointment. I went online, and filled out the new patient/scheduling an appointment thing and said that I am a dependent on the insurance, but there wasn't a space to include the information of the policy holder, so I just said in the message call me if you need information and I'd be happy to give that to you. (I am a receptionist at a healthcare office, I deal with people's insurance all the time, I know how it goes.) I get a voicemail later, the person talking to me was super snippy and very rude. She blamed me for not giving her the policy holder information, and then told me the date I requested on their website wasn't available so if I want to get in I better call them and they would schedule me in mid september. That doesn't sound very bad, but she was very flippant, and if this is their level of customer service I won't be going to this office.

I and my whole family have been very well taken care of by Dr. Popilsy and staff for over 30 years. He is funny, attentive and competent, notifying me through the exam what changes are happening with my eyes and reccommending the very best specialized care. He'd better never retire because that would be a sad day for us all.
