Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Philip Yi  |  Rating: 1  |  California Eye Clinic

My wife and I went to this ophthalmology clinic through the recommendation of our family doctor. We heard that the doctors in this clinic can speak Chinese, so we chose this clinic. We arrived at the clinic 15 minutes before the scheduled time. The receptionist at the window of this clinic said that my wife was late for an hour and couldn't see the doctor, and she needed to come back at a different time. I feel very strange, because the appointment time is confirmed before seeing the doctor. Since they said I was late, I decided to cancel the appointment, and the window staff told me after a while that the doctor agreed to see us on the same day, so we stayed. I followed the staff into a hut, where the nurse began to do a preliminary eye examination for me. After a few minutes of the examination, the doctor interrupted my examination and called me to another room. I started to cross-examine some questions and asked me what was wrong with my eyes. I said I didn’t feel anything wrong. The doctor then asked, why did you come here? I said that the family doctor asked for a routine eye examination during our physical examination. I have The doctor's recommendation letter, he asked me again, why did you come to me, I said, I heard from the family doctor that you are Chinese and can speak Chinese, which makes it easier to communicate, so I chose you. He said that he does not speak Chinese, Mandarin or Cantonese. I felt very strange at that time, he is Chinese, and he did not admit that he could speak Chinese. He asked me again if I had glasses, and I said yes, and he asked why I didn't wear them. I said, I don't need to wear them at ordinary times, but I wear them sometimes at work. My glasses are reading glasses. Because my English is not good, some questions may not be answered clearly. He started asking me again why I was late, and I said, I'm not late, I was fifteen minutes earlier. When he asked me questions, his attitude was very unfriendly, impatient, simple and rude, deliberately making things difficult, not like the normal communication between a doctor and a patient. This is the worst doctor I have ever met in my life. I can’t believe it. it is true. His quality is not worthy of being a doctor, and he is even more unworthy of being a Chinese!

Dr. Ranola was very knowledgeable. She gave me exercises to strengthen my right eye. And let me know other things that previous doctors neglected to share with me. Overall experience was great!

Very knowledgeable people, clean, organized staff/ office(s.) Each time I got a contact lense exam was without appointment.. I just stopped by to see if maybe they had time to see me and they always did. I was pleasantly surprised to have walk in for an eye/contact lense exam frustrated because everything was blurry and leave with a pair of contacts having peace of mind having the ability to see everything better and brighter.

All the staff was friendly, got me in the same day, fixed a prescription issue I've had for years. Dr. Virk went the extra distance working around my schedule to get me in for a follow up. Very knowledgeable. I usually hate eye doctor's appointments and get uptight. They were so helpful and fun that I forgot I was at an eye doctor. Lol. They took their time in helping me pick out new glases that I love. I used my AARP card and I got 30% off my glasses, saving $107.00. I've never had anything but a great experience all the way around. Grim Trendy Thru

Doctors are great, but the staff needs some supervision. They are always so unpleasant and so rude and I know I'm not the only one who thinks this. Other people on here have mentioned the same thing. Money is not a problem when service is quality, I am going elsewhere.
