Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

The tech that did some of my testing was fantastic and very informative. The visit with Dr Willet was great and equally informative. When I was scheduling a procedure, the employee worked with the schedule I had and was very understanding when I made changes. I had a great visit. I would definitely recommend this office group at Baptist MacFarland to all my friends and family.

They treated me so bad in there I believe they are prejudice I didn't want to believe it but they are especially the employees they follow you everywhere trying to see if you stealing looked in your purse accuse you of things talk to you crazy any kind of way but other people around me you helping them talking nice to them actually a little giggle here and then smile with the other person what was the difference between me and the other lady are skin color that's the only difference but the way they treated me I even told him I take all my clothes off off my purse put it on the table so they can see what in my purse and knowing that it seem like they want to keep charging insurance over and over again make appointments with out your permission like today and appointment 2:00 I didn't make that appointment at all you guys know what you did last time I was there and I told you my eyes are still the same vision still blurry I'm getting headaches I could barely see out of the glasses is not working for some reason I think they give you the wrong prescription in one eye so you keep coming back and they charging you co-pay not only that when you go on there and want a good eye case to go inside with your brand new glasses they give you the ugly basket to look at it excuse me the color people eye case to pick out to look at and pick one out why they give the other skin color another bucket to look at nice and pretty eyes cases you got the low budget State insurance try to find a different doctor office to go to care about you this one don't they're prejudice and discrimination there and how they treat us is not good because other people got insurance too what's the difference cuz ours low income insurance so we don't deserve to look at the other glasses in the other eye cases that's prejudice discrimination

TL; DR: just discovered my “designer” frames are counterfeit. I’m 4 years late on this review. But here it goes, I bought two pairs of glasses for my husband. He wore one pair daily for the last 4 years. They started getting a bit grubby and the lens coating was coming off, understandable for daily wear. His Rx hasn’t changed and I reminded him of the second pair sitting unused in the sock drawer for the last 4 years. We get them out, the frames were Maxim brand, OR SO WE THOUGHT! He didn’t like the gold lettering on the arms, so I just marked over it with a Sharpie marker. Doing this revealed a bizarre mystery. The letters for Maxim had been painted over where NASCAR was engraved in the arm. I really don’t care if they are Maxim or NASCAR brand, but I do recall paying a lot for these, so that part is pretty irritating. I wiped the marker back off again but you can clearly see it says NASCAR under Maxim. Please stop selling counterfeit “designer” frames.

I definitely tried to give this place another shot but it was an epic fail! This is for sure the worst place to go. On today's visit 6/11/21 I went in to get my glasses re-evaluated because after a repeat visit I still could not see out of my glasses. Everything seem to be going well UNTIL I sat in Dr. Tim Norton's chair to get my eye exam. He proceeded to adjust the letter charts and I would explain if and what I could see. Norton gets upset and rudely tells me I'm lying about what I'm seeing and that in not being accurate. I say, "Sir why would I lie about what I can & can't see?" I verbally say, "sir I don't know what's wrong with you but you don't have to speak to me in the tone your using." Norton response was I can do that I'm the boss. He snatches my chart and say, "we can't do anything about your glasses you can go somewhere else.' I said okay you can be the boss, give me my glasses and I will. (In front of all the customers) He then tells me, "I'm not giving you the glasses back" I made him aware that I purchased the fames years ago.. They are mine! Finally after a few seconds of going back and forward the nurse tells him "yes sir" it says in the chart that the patient brought frames" of course at this point things had gotten escalated. I figure it's because he was in front of a lot of customers and he was wrong. Instead of him saying I'm sorry Norton begins to aggressively pushing the lens out of my frames and tries to give them to me. I said "NO" you will not give the frames to me that way because I didn't bring them in with no lens. He yells at me to take my contacts out my eyes. I'm thinking this man has got to be stupid if he thinks I'm going to take my contacts out and hand them to him. Norton and I are going back and forward still and the nurse ask me to explain what happen so she could understand. I start to explain and he is yelling for me to leave. I proceed to gesture my hand (IN MY AREA) to tell him to stop talking so I could explain. Norton reaches his hand in my face, waves it around a few times, and make funny faces! At this point I was livid! He also decides to say, "Is this what ya'll do in your neighborhood?" (referring to us "BLACK" people) At one point he seemed to try and charge at me, I then called the police officers to file a report. I just couldn't fathom some of the staff condoning Nortons behavior. And to think I've been his patient since I was 7 years old when he worked in Pine Bluff! He was wrong and out of line! And if any of the staff backs him they are just as wrong as his is. Save your money and time and just find somewhere else to go.
