Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Eyes West Optical provides outstanding service and is deserving of its 5 star rating on the surface; however, they do not take care of, nor inform, their EXISTING patients who have a vision insurance plan that Eyes West intends to discontinue. I would expect they could identify patients in their data base who have United Health Care (UHC Vision) and inform them they are no longer "their patient." It's disconcerting to find out when making an appointment that they will no longer see you as their patient. This is a horrible business practice and they should have thought about the impact of canceling an in-network insurance carrier the same as abruptly trashing a segment of their customers. Those of you who "think" you are a patient of theirs and are considering making another appointment with them should CALL them first! You just may find out when you "show up" at your appointment that they may tell you, "...and you CAN'T keep your doctor too." The "front of the house" operations at Eyes West is commendable, but this callous oversight of its existing patients gives me cause for concern for their lack of attention to business details and its effect on the patients they maintain.

My child needed glasses and the chain stores had a two week turnaround time. That's a long time for a kid to be walking around squinting. Scott called me back within a few minutes and had the lenses ordered immediately. If your looking for individualized attention and amazing customer service this is the place for you.

Scott and Dr. Sarah have taken care of my vision since I was 15. As I round the corner to age 30, I can still say, my vision remains great, and they take great care of my family and I. It’s not just the great work by the staff here, but they do it with a smile, and they truly care. If you’re unsure, or want to try someone who isn’t inside of a big box store, give these guys a holler. You won’t be disappointed. When the time comes, I will be taking my little one here.
