Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Maria Talento  |  Rating: 5  |  LensCrafters

It’s the first time I’ve seemed services at Lens Crafters, and I must say…their services is beyond expectations. I was waiting on my second pair of glasses and when I had inquired about it, they had called me back quicker than I had expected. The same day that I had inquired about my second pair of glasses they had dealt with the situation and had my glasses available the following day; along with an upgrade to my lenses without cost. I would for sure recommend their services and seek their services again as well.

Dr. Rennard figured out the correct prescription, as I was in an overpowered prescription for two years after visiting Stanton Optical. In less than 24 hours, I noticed a huge difference (e.g., no longer have a headache, dizziness, the facial muscles around my eyes relaxed immediately, and I can read fine print). I got in and out the same day. Dr. Rennard was professional, knowledgeable, and recommended reasonably priced contacts to meet my needs. Thank you! I highly recommend Dr. Rennard and his staff.

Nate Laabs  |  Rating: 5  |  Faulkner Bill OD

I have not been in for a full-fledged eye exam in quite a while, at least not since moving to AK in 2009. Dr. Faulkner was a referral, and I could not have been happier with how things went. First off, the support staff in the office is cordial; the receptionist/tech had a great sense of humor and was very welcoming. Second, the staff was knowledgeable and explained each step of the exam clearly ahead of my time with the doctor. When Dr. Faulkner came in, he had an overall engaging demeanor. I was impressed with his enthusiasm for his specialty and how well he could describe the more complex bits of information to me. Even better, he checked in with me via phone afterwards. This is a small office in downtown Anchorage, but you can expect quality service and a sharp staff. Very glad to have an established practitioner to visit and revisit!

Brad Wuerer  |  Rating: 5  |  Southside Eyecare & Optical

The entire team was very helpful. They was no wait time; I was seen right on time. They explained the insurance co pays and gave options to minimize out of pocket expenses. I have been going to them for 10 plus years and always recieve consistent high quality eye care and customer service. I love there use of technology i.e. e mail and texting for reminders of appointments .

Victoria Pushruk  |  Rating: 5  |  Eyemart Express

Eyemart Express is the only place I go to for my glasses. They have excellent service, and awesome customer service. They got 2 glasses of mine done in 17 minutes. WOW! I couldn't ask for a better place to get them done. I'm in Anchorage, AK, and am happy each time I go there. It's nice to be able to get free frames if something happens to them. Kudos, Kudos, Kudo's. Great job Eyemart, you guys and gals ROCK! Thank you. Your #1 customer!
