Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Dr Palmer is awesome. She and her well chosen staff make you feel comfortable and well cared for from the moment you enter their office. Friendly smiles, happy faces and a great exam. For some reason, since Covid, so many people seem to be just going through the motions. Not here! My day was better for my visit. And no one is pushy about selling their products, getting tests you don’t need or eyewear. Double win!

Dr. Palmer is awesome! She took the time to find out how to correct an issue I have been having with my eyes for several years. My previous optometrist ignored me when I mentioned it to her. Dr. Palmer listened to me and solved the problem! Thank you Dr. Palmer! Her assistant, Madison, was great, also. She had everything checked and ready to go for Dr. Palmer. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and helpful as well. Plus, each pair of glasses I have purchased through Dr. Palmer’s office has been perfect. I’ve never had to send a pair back for adjustments. If you haven’t used her yet, I encourage you to make an appointment with her when it’s time for your next eye exam! You won’t regret it one bit!

Brenda Alarcon  |  Rating: 1  |  Hayes Eye Center

My name is Brenda, I was a patient here for over two years. When coming for my monthly contacts, I had received terrible service and as a human with rights i was told from dr.Haye I had none. Furthering this issues I never received my contacts due to him standing over me trying to intimidate and blaming his slow internet. I continued to show him my payment receipts and he continued with his assistants to claim i had no money when I had more than enough. When swiping card over three times they mentioned saying I was trying to steal from them using some type of false payment. It seems my card was declined twice on their side, then accepted it the other time but even then they proceeded to …belittle me ..as well as being an eye doctor, not caring for his patients eye vision. It’s sad to know someone who suppose to care deeply about someone else vision to take that away as well as your rights. I’m 19 years old. It was very hurtful to hear this from a grown man with a family tell me those words, especially when I myself am a person of color. I hope this can help you pick your eye doctor. I would never recommend this place. Such disappointment. Great cheap pricing but I rather waste more money on a better educated doctor because I have noticed my eye vision get worse with little to none concerns. Everytime I would call for my contacts I never received a call when they arrived, I had to always call them and ask. They also have made me go run from store to store splitting bills because they didn’t have change, it always seem to be some money issue. I really think this is not a good business as well as some racial issue going on.

Dr Hayes and his entire staff are amazing! Their customer service as well as Dr Hayes’ bed side manner and knowledge of everything optical is what will have me marketing for them! I cannot express how happy I am with my new glasses and how excited I am to be able to see things clearer!

Would not recommend this vision center to anyone. Dr on staff is rude! Not very compassionate towards children or teens. However the other staff are in the vision center are very nice and helpful.
